Nagarparkar Cultural Landscape
Nagarparkar Cultural Landscape is part of the Tentative list of Pakistan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Nagarparkar region is located in southeastern Pakistan at the foot of the Karunjar hill and was an important centre of the Jain religion and culture. The cultural landscape includes a collection of abandoned Jain temples dating from the 12th to the 15th centuries, the heyday of the Jain culture in the region. At the time, Nagarparkar was on the coast of the Arabian Sea, but changes in the coastline and trade routes resulted in the decline of the Jain population in the 19th century. The most significant examples of Jain architecture are the Gori Temple and the temples in the town of Bhodesar.
